Local natural resources can be used as a base for village development and sustainable livelihoods. |
Growing commercialization of human-nature interface has its greatest impact on the life and livelihood of the poor and marginalized, and hence a truly sustainable development ought to oppose this trend. |

Role |
| |
We see our role as a process facilitator and catalyst in developing a supportive and enabling environment for community based natural resources governance. Equally important is our role in building local capacities to strive for changes in the direction of democratization of natural resources governance.
Vasundhara as a support organization has been taking up research and advocacy efforts directed towards Policy changes. Another pre-requisite for stable community based resource management systems is stable and sustainable institutional arrangement at community level, local capacities for resource management. In view of this it has been our endeavor to take up capacity building initiatives. Communities who have the critical dependency on forest and other natural resources also need to be empowered through livelihood enhancing initiatives. Enabling the depending community to take initiatives in regard of livelihood improvement.
